The 2021 Christmas Festival offers a festive day out for families without Santa.  

Open Saturdays and Sundays throughout December and every day from December 20th to 10th January 2022, 12-4pm. Closed 24th,25th,26th December

This year’s Christmas Festival in Galway is designed to help us all get back to what really matters – finding joy, love and time for those we care about.

Enjoy a day out, away from all the stress of COVID, unplugging and spending quality time with family during the holidays.

The 2021 Christmas Festival invites you to get outdoors, explore, and rejuvenate.

Only €5 per person, your entry includes our homemade warm organic apple juice for everyone, a special Christmas Nature activity for the Enchanted Forest, make your own rustic face craft stand, pet the ponies and check out the farm animals.  Visit the Enchanted Forest, where the fairies have been busy decorating for the holiday season.  Children ages 5-12 can go aboard a quiet pony (booking essential, €10 per child), or just take a 10-15 minute stroll there on foot.   Each child also receives an Enchanted Forest pack with a wishing tree tag, fairy dust, pencil and fairy guide.

The gift shop and Three Towers Organic Cafe will be open (indoor or outdoor dining and takeaway options, depending on restrictions).  Try some of our famous pancakes with organic chocolate spread!

Important Information:

  • Masks must be worn indoors and outdoors for anyone over the age of 13.
  • The Three Towers Organic Restaurant will be open from 12pm to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday in December and every day during the school holidays.  Please allow enough time for a sit-down meal if you would like to eat as we are 100% organic and homemade – we don’t do fast food, we do healthy organic homemade food as fast as we can.
  • Please note that all of the fantastic activities on offer are outdoors.
  • We highly recommend wellies, gloves and rain gear, including trousers for the young children, to fully enjoy the experience.
  • We do not cancel for weather.
  • Children must be supervised at all times.
  • Social distancing guidelines must be adhered to anywhere on the property.

Visit Santa Galway

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays December 1st – 23rd,
4-7 pm Fridays
12-6pm Saturdays, Sundays

Every year, Santa plans a stop at Slieve Aughty Centre, where he enjoys a soft chair next to a cosy fire in his cabin while he visits with children from around the country.  Each family gets scheduled personal time with Santa and a small gift.
Before and/or after your Santa visit there are lots of other things to do. Pet Santa’s “pony” reindeer and the donkeys at the live nativity, browse the Christmas Shop, chat with other families over a cup of hot chocolate and home-made pancakes, and enjoy the festive music.  The kids can make some crafts, get their faces painted, and meet a friendly polar bear while waiting for storytelling (all included in your entry cost!).

Save some room for home-made treats and organic mulled wine at The Three Tower Organic Kitchen, open all day .

Slieve Aughty Centre’s Christmas Festival offers something new and different, with live characters, storytelling, arts and crafts, shows, animals, the Snow Queen and more. You never know who will be visiting or what surprises are in store. What we do promise is that you will experience a Christmas Festival like no other with a family feel.

Babies & Toddlers Admission Times 10:00am-12:00pm

Admission times are:12:15pm, 1:15pm, 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm, 5:15pm.  

Enjoy a magical time in the Athenry Heritage Centre’s Winter Wonderland with a one hour Santa Experience that includes a range of festive craft activities for all the family to enjoy.

Enter a world of Christmas fun and festive cheer where children can discover a place full of treats and delights which includes craft activities, the popular baking activity, make Christmas tree decorations and plant a spring bulb. All the activities are fun, inclusive and let the imagination go wild.

The Elves are waiting for all the boys and girls to help them enjoy their activities and Santa is waiting with a gift for the children to take home.

Parents of young babies and toddlers can also enjoy their Santa experience with morning opening times just for you. There’s a world of toys and festive cheer waiting for you and Santa has a special gift too. Doors open from 10:00am-12:00pm. No pre-booking is necessary.

Admission for the Babies & Toddlers is €10.00 per child and €5.00 per Adult.

The Athenry Heritage Centre is decorated in its unique and special way which brings home the spirit of Christmas and lets parents and children enjoy their visit in the ambient setting of St. Mary’s Church, Athenry. Children will be thrilled as they start their journey to meet Santa but remember there’s only 25 places per hour so book online or buy your tickets at the door.

Admission times are:12:15pm, 1:15pm, 2:15pm, 3:15pm, 4:15pm, 5:15pm.  

Tickets are limited to 25 children per hour.

Admission Prices: Child €15.00, Under Two €10.00, Adult €5.00

This year’s Christmas Winter Wonderland offers parents the opportunity to book online with Eventbrite where Mum’s & Dads can choose their times to visit Santa.

Please note all online tickets include a booking fee but it guarantees your entry time to the Athenry Heritage Centre’s Christmas Winter Wonderland.
