The Helix have announced that this year’s Christmas Panto will be the family favourite Beauty and the Beast, with Ireland’s premier tenor, Paul Byrom leading a superb cast in the magical production which runs from Friday  24th November 2017 to Sunday 21st January 2018.

Bigger and better this year, TheatreworX Productions return to The Helix this Christmas for with their 10th anniversary show. A hilarious adaptation of the magical fairytale Beauty and the Beast, The Helix Panto will captivate audiences with a magical story, wonderful scenery, lively music, song and dance and of course, comedy genius for all the family to enjoy.

Taking to the pantomime stage for the first time, Paul Byrom will play the role of the over confident hunter, Gaston. Paul said, “After years of recording, touring and performing in shows, I’m delighted to tick the panto stage off my bucket list, I’m especially looking forward to play such a fun role as Gaston”. 

  

Creative Director of TheatreworX Productions and producer of The Helix Panto, Claire Tighe said, “I am so very excited and proud as punch to be producing TheatreworX’s 10th anniversary Helix Panto. We’re really looking forward to getting back into The Helix to transform it into our magical panto land again with spectacular sets, colourful costumes, stunning special effects and a ridiculously talented cast. Our panto, as always, promises to be the funniest family friendly panto around”.

This festive season, escape into space in this fantastic interactive theatrical adventure for ages 3-5 from Little Bigtop in association with The Civic.

Moon Woke Me Up Nine times

So I built a rocket with my friends
And went on a journey that never ends

Come up and away with us. Come and play with us.

You are invited to come and build a rocket that will BLAST OFF and take us on a magical adventure. Once inside their homemade rocket children are treated to a magical shadow show as they journey to the moon! Come with us all the way, up there, into outer space!

I wonder if it smells of cheese?
I wonder if it will make me sneeze?

Inspired by a Haiku of the same title by Basho Matsuo, Moon Woke Me Up is an interactive theatrical adventure to space for ages 3-5, using a wonderful blend of performance and interactive drama, construction play and sensory explorations.

This phenomenally popular show, The Snowman Movie comes to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre following its sellout success in recent years. A magical concert designed for all the family, Raymond Briggs’s captivating film has established itself as part of the Christmas festivities for young and old,  accompanied by Howard Blake’s score played live by the Irish Philharmonic Orchestra. Suitable for young children, this is an opportunity for the whole family to share the magic of Christmas. Featuring Walking in the Air, and a selection of popular Christmas Songs, bring your jingle bells, wear your fancy dress, and make sure you book early!

Shay Byrne (RTÉ Radio 1’s Risin’ Time) will tell the story of James and the flying snowman as you watch the film on the big screen. This family Christmas show will also feature a carols sing along with special guest and seasonal favourites from the talented children of FACT, Showtime and Junior Musicals theatre schools, adding to the spirit and excitement of Christmas. There may also be a surprise a visit from Santa!
