The Santa Express in Oakfield Park is one of Ireland’s most famous festive events, and this year is bigger and better than ever before.
 
What’s new at The Santa Express 2025 in Oakfield Park?

Brand new interactive feature. Atlas the Elf hosts a live demonstration in Santa’s state of the art cabin full of maps and plans. Learn how to say “Merry Christmas” in different languages or explore how other countries celebrate the season, and uncover the secrets of Santa’s worldwide delivery route. Every 20 minutes, Atlas welcomes a new group of young explorers to take part in interactive games and festive challenges all designed to help chart the perfect path through the night sky. Children of all ages can play and parents can watch and cheer from the viewing area.

NEW LOG CABINS IN CHRISTMAS VILLAGE:

Tootsie’s Toyshop and The Sensory room have both moved into newly refurbished cabins and completely redecorated. New gifts on offer as well as a large selection of confectionary and Oakfield Park Items.

THE FROST FOUNTAIN AND LIGHT SHOW:

Each year, our Christmas light display grows brighter and this year, the magic has reached the water. Introducing the brand new Frost Fountain: a dazzling spectacle where lights and water come to life across the lake.

BIGGEST CHRISTMAS TREE IN IRELAND

Has got even taller and more spectacular – This magical construction can be seen from the train journey as well as with the newly extended Candyland, Toytown and Unicorn Kingdom.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT, PAINTING ELF DOORS:

Introducing The Magic Door Co. AKA Our Elf Door Painting Station.
Children select their door to become their elf’s portal and paint it however they choose—classic red, snowy white, or rainbow colour explosion! On Christmas Eve, place the finished door out for your elf and it becomes their magic passageway back to the North Pole. Next year, bring it back out to welcome them home in style. A fun and festive craft to start a new family tradition.

NEW HEATED CHALETS:

This year, the cabins outside Santa’s Grotto have been completely transformed. Rebuilt and lovingly redecorated in the style of a ski chalet, they’re now cosier and more magical than ever. As you step off the train, you’ll be welcomed into a warm alpine retreat where Santa’s top elves have been hard at work creating new ways to keep you entertained before your meeting with the Man himself!

Where real snow falls soft and magic fills the air, The Santa Express is back.

Jump on board The Santa Express train and settle in for your journey through the enchanted forests of the North Pole. The railway track winds through beloved worlds like Candy Land and Toy Town, and past new wonders like the Frost Fountain and Snowdrop Glade, where snowflakes dance amongst the trees. Keep an eye out too for Santa’s starlit runway and the biggest Christmas tree in Ireland.

Have you ever wondered how your Elf on The Shelf gets back and forth to the North Pole? With their very own Magic Door, of course. If you’re one of the lucky ones to host a nice Elf on the Shelf, give them a stylish send-off this Christmas with a custom-painted elf door from The Craft Cabin. This year, we’re excited to be opening up Santa’s Map Room, where you can sneak a peek behind the scenes and help Atlas the Elf prepare for Santa’s journey around the world. And for families who need a moment of calm, our Sensory Room has moved into a peaceful log cabin—a quiet space for anyone who needs it.

This year Festina Lente welcomes Santa Claus to Festina Lente for 12 Days Of Christmas

During you visit to Santa at Festina Lente you will get to meet Santa Claus, post your Santa Claus letter, make your wish on the Wishing Tree, enjoy roasted marsh mallows and hot chocolate……….and of course a visit to Santa would not be complete without visiting Siofra, Alanna, Bob and Sean – Santa’s little ponies!.

As places are limited early booking is advised as we cannot delay Santa Claus during his busiest time of the year!!

If you would like to bring food present we will be collecting food items which will be distributed by the Lions Club.

As we are a charity- we would like to let you know where the money for this event is going… The Equine Facilitated Educational Programme (EFEP)

The EFEP Programme is designed to target the areas of social, emotional and behavioural well-being. Specifically, the programme addresses a young persons’ self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making with all equestrian activities mapping onto these domains. Festina Lente works with a number of DEIS primary school in the north Wicklow and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown areas providing this service five mornings of the week.

Our 12th Panto Production is a wonderful and hilarious adaptation of The Three Musketeers!

TheatreworX is back with this year’s Helix Panto ‘The Three Musketeers’. With all the wit, magic and fun that our audiences have come to expect from our hilarious panto!  TheatreworX is renowned for it’s hilarious scripts with the perfect cast resulting in the best family Christmas outing. With audience favourites Aidan Mannion and Colin Hughes returning along with Chris Corroon’s Lola amongst others, this year’s production is set to tickle the funny bone yet again.

Come along to The Helix this Christmas to see yet another fresh, fun and exciting panto that will leave your face and sides sore from laughing.

Sensory Friendly Show: Wednesday December 18th at 7:00pm
The changes incorporated into the sensory friendly show include softer and brighter lighting, no sudden noises or bangs, music at a suitable level and a particular allowance is made for children who may need to move around more and may react in different ways to a performance.

In addition to these changes, no flashing merchandise will be available in The Helix during the sensory -friendly performance.

This winter, a special tour will take to the roads of Ireland as Robert C Kelly, in association with the TLT presents the spectacular Christmas pantomime Beauty and the Beast at TLT Drogheda.

Robert C Kelly commented “After the huge success of our pantomimes in Limerick we thought it time to take the shows “on the road” and our full­scale pantomimes will now tour annually to various Irish venues. This year we are delighted to start with The TLT in  Drogheda, The National Opera House in Wexford and the INEC in Killarney.”    Beauty and the Beast will feature a star­studded cast including comedian Karl Spain, Red  Rock star Adam Weafer and from kids favourite, Twigin, RTÉjr star Clara Murray.

Limerick comedian Karl Spain familiar for his TV appearances including Karl Spain Wants a Woman, and Operation Transformation will play castle keeper, Bertie in the fabulous family  pantomime. Hailed as “achingly funny” (The Sunday Times) Karl is a regular performer at  Kilkenny Cat Laughs, the Galway Comedy Festival, the Vodafone Comedy Festival, the  Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Montreal Just for Laughs. He has performed in Australia, the  US and South Africa and has toured with Kevin Bridges and Ed Byrne.    

Ladies favourite and Red Rock star Adam Weafer will join the show as the loveable and  misunderstood Beast.

Clara Murray, who is well known to Irish audiences as a presenter of  Twigin, Singalong, Pop Goes the Weekend on RTÉjr and will join this year’s pantomime as  the feisty heroine, Belle.    Up and coming comedy duo and creators of the hilarious sell out show It’s Wine O’clock, currently taking Northern Ireland by storm, Teresa McBride and Rozlyn Sheridan will have  you laughing all the way home! They’ll be joining the show as the hilarious Breda and Bridie,  dim­witted servants to the Beast who are sure to get up to some hijinks. Red Rock alumni John Lovett is also on board, adding a sprinkling of fabulousness to the  show as he takes on the role of the glamourous Dame Lola. Michael Kiersey will play the  selfie obsessed Gaston, who professes his love for the beautiful Belle (although not as much as he loves himself!) Damien Douglas will bring the panto fun factor as his silly but loveable  sidekick Gascraic.     The show features a combination of the biggest and most glamorous sets and costumes in  Ireland and chart­topping hits of the past and present. Don’t miss this fabulous Christmas  treat for all the family.

Christmas Fun for the Whole Family at Weston Airport, Lucan, Co. Dublin!

This December, 2 of Weston Airport’s aircraft hangars will be transformed into Christmas Kingdom; a Christmas experience for the entire family to enjoy. Entry to the Christmas Kingdom is free, the Santa Visit Experience requires a ticket, which costs €15 per child (adults go free!) The Santa Visit includes a festive train, live crib, Santa’s post box, Mrs. Clause and of course a special meeting with Santa himself with a gift for each child. Funderland *** OPEN ALMOST DAILY from 26th December 2019 to 12th January 2020*** Funderland at the RDS has been part of Christmas in Dublin for over 40 years. It has been said that Funderland is an annual appointment for thousands of families. 

This year’s Funderland will present the best thrill rides and family attractions in the European fairground including attractions direct from Germany. Funderland comprises of almost 3 acres of attractions housed inside the Simmonscourt Pavilion with many more located in the complex outside.

Besides being able to Pay-As-You-Go (subject to an admission charge) Funderland offers a Pay-One-Price (P.O.P.) Wristband option that may be used for any 3 consecutive hours of your choice for unlimited rides – subject to the usual height and safety restrictions.
