About this event

Celebrate the magic of the spoken word and awaken your inner Seanchaí at Samhain Family Festival.

Immerse yourself in an authentic Halloween experience this October as spirits young and old will gather at EPIC the Irish Emigration Museum, for Samhain, Ireland’s Family Halloween Festival.

Samhain is a festival that celebrates Ireland’s ancient Halloween roots and rich storytelling traditions. Modern Seanchaís and colourful characters will share spine-tingling tales and there will be plenty of treats in store for all ages as we invite you to celebrate the magic of the spoken word. Children will be encouraged to harness the spooky sounds of nature with the Morrigan’s “Sounds of the Forest”, play Halloween games with the cheeky Pooka, and cast out the cobwebs with our resident good witch Cailleach as she brings us on a journey of discovery about inner magic through spells and mantras to inspire positive wellbeing for would-be witches and warlocks.

Join Samhain live in the CHQ building this October 25th .The Seachchai stage show features Spellcasting, Readings and Songs of the Witch and is the perfect event for all the family to enjoy.

Samhain Family Festival is proudly sponsored by the BAI, UNESCO City Libraries and The Arts Council of Ireland.

For those who cannot make it to our live event, there is a whole host of online treats in store: The Seanchaí Sessions from the James Joyce Centre, Spellcasting from the witches’ lair, Jerry Fish Story and Song from Smock Alley, and Ireland’s most famous Seanchaí Eddie Lenihan, who will enchant with tales of those magical mysterious “other folk” fireside from Bunratty Folk Park.
