Horses, Humans and Halloween Mid-Term Kids Camp 29th October – 1st November 2019

Looking for a magical Halloween mid-term camp? Festina Lente has you covered!

Muggle School may be out, but join our classes at THE place to be for witchcraft and wizardry! Our Halloween Mid Term camp runs from Tuesday 29th October – Friday 1st November 2019 from 9.45am – 2pm, for children ages 6 to 12 years old.  Your child will do horse riding and plenty of hands on crafts and activities for the 4 days.

Agenda for the days include:

  • Horse riding every day
  • Potions
  • Herbology
  • Transfiguration
  • Charms
  • Library work
  • Broomstick Practice
  • Quidditch (weather permitting – outdoor pitch)

If your child has any special needs, requirements or allergies please email info@festinalente.ie with the details. Please pack a drink & snack for elevenses and a lunch for later as wizarding is hungry work.  Bearing in mind some lessons have an outdoor element, please bring suitable warm clothes, rain gear and wellies. You may wear robes or muggle gear as you wish, but we don’t advise wearing your best clothes in case you get messy so old clothes are advised.

Catherine McGuinness will be returning to the museum for a seriously slimy science lab. Come along, get creative, get a little spooky and learn something new in this fantastically disgusting workshop. Feel free to come along in your scariest costume to really get into the Halloween spirit!

This workshop is recommended for ages 6 – 12.

MediEvil, All new Hallowe’en Spook Walk tours, relocated from Tullynally Castle, with Ghostly Guide Bartle D’Arcy.
 
Assemble in Fore Abbey Coffee Shop, with free car parking, 15 minutes before your tour. Follow the “Walk of the Dead” towards Gallows Hill in Historic Fore on the looped Valley Walk from the old Gaol. They used to give the condemned prisoner a chance. Run for your Life before IT gets you. Something is out there…. still. Brave your way around, learn about the hidden histories and beware the troubled Monks of the old Abbey.
 
Three tours each night at 6.30 pm 7.45 pm and 9.00 pm.

Spook Walks are all outdoors dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a small torch. Spook Walks are scary with Jump Scares and are not suitable for Children under 8 years of age. Walks are approx 2.5 kms in length. All are on hard surface paths. Refreshments available in Fore Abbey Coffee Shop before each walk.

Happy Halloween Experience Cork is Spooky not Scary and offers Spooktacular Fun for all the family

Families in Cork can look forward to a spooky Halloween half-term treat, with the return of the spooktacular ‘Happy Halloween’ experience in Dunnes Stores, Patrick Street Cork  (and also Jetland Shopping Centre in Limerick).

Open: 18th to 20th October

Opening times: 12 to 6pm daily (except Oct 18th 3 to 6pm)

Witch Hattie O’Goodspell, the good witch of Munster, will entertain visitors in her magical spooky home.  Hattie is joined by her friends, the spooky skeletons like “Lazy Bones”, the bonkers bats, and a whole host of other spooky (not scary) ghosts and ghouls. 

The cost is just €6 per child, with free entry for adults, and everyone is encouraged to dress-up in their favourite Hallowe’en costumes.  

On entering visitors meet a friendly trainee witch, who guides them on their journey through spectacular spooky sights, en-route to Witch Hattie O’Goodspell’s house.

Once there children meet with Hattie who tells them all about her magic potions, her favourite broomsticks and of course her famous hat collection!!   Visitors see where Hattie makes her magic spells and the very spooky children might even get to sit on her broom!

Everyone leaves with small sweet treat, and a professional photographer is on hand to capture the magical Halloween moment with Witch Hattie O’Goodspell. 

Photos can be purchased immediately afterwards in large 8×10 format with card frame, a great reminder of a spooktacular fun visit!

The National Wax Museum has been a huge part of the Irish tourism landscape for nearly 40 years. Here is some interesting information about our old locations over the years and some twists and turns we have experienced. The National Wax Museum at it was then known was originally situated in Granby Row near Parnell Square in Dublin 1. It was opened in 1983 by the Lord Mayor of Dublin and was an exciting new addition to the city. The museum became a landmark with the Giant Cú Chulainn scaling the side of the building and many of our current visitors still remember the infamous tunnels and visiting on there school tour as children. Is was then as it is now the most famous Dublin Museum.
