The Helix Christmas Panto is back with Hansel and Gretel

The Helix and TheatreworX are delighted to announce that tickets are NOW on sale for its 2022/23 panto Hansel & Gretel. All of the Helix panto favourites are back, including Buddy and Laurel played by Colin Hughes and Adam Mannion. Tickets are priced at €27.50 and are available now from www.thehelix.ie. Continuing with tradition a special sensory friendly performance will take place on 20^th December at 6pm.

The cast of this years’ Panto is bigger than ever before and includes Ireland’s premier tenor Paul Byrom, the multi-talented Orla Jennings and AIMS award winner and funny man Chris Corroon as Dame Lola.

Creative director of TheatreworX Productions and producer of The Helix Panto Claire Tighe said:

“We are thrilled to be back – bigger and better whilst ensuring the show must go on. Having learned valuable lessons over the past few years, Hansel & Gretel will be cover ready at all times with a talented understudy cast supporting our principal line up in a production with more laughs, more stunts and more costume changes than ever before.”

General Manager of The Helix Michael Brady said at today’s announcement:

“The Helix opened twenty years ago in October 2002 and for 15 of those years the Tighe family have been delighting families and people of all ages with their vision of panto. The past few years have been a real challenge for all of us in the entertainment sector, but our panto will I am sure bring a bit of normalcy back to people’s lives and put a smile on the faces of everyone -young and old”.”

The very successful online panto for schools nationwide and indeed internationally (schools signed up from as far away as Australia last year!) will take place again with an early bird fee of €395 till October 31^st. This allows schools to access the panto to students during school time from 14^th to 21^st December. Schools have found the online panto an excellent way of keeping costs down, whilst at the same time sharing the magic of panto with their young students.

We were kindly invited along to the opening night of Hansel & Gretel and we loved it…..

There are gags a plenty at this years TheatreworX Panto, Hansel & Gretel, now showing at the Helix Theatre in Dublin.

Lots of familiar faces thread the boards again including the wonderful Paul Byrom as Donny, Colin Hughes as the ever popular Buddy, Aidan Mannion as the comical Laurel and lots more. The skits are just great and there’s so much packed in there with lots of references to everyday gripes and groans.

This years Panto is a play on the Hansel and Gretel story, which sees the shows two main characters Brian Dalton and Caoimhe Garvey, in search of the ‘moon stone’. They are aided on their quest by a wonderful cast or characters including the forest Humicorns, played by Orla Jennings and Jordan Bass, Merryville villagers and a funny and scary (not scary) forest witch from Eastwall in Dublin 😊

No write up would be complete without a shout out to Chris Corroon who plays the larger than life Lola, the hilarious panto mammy! Also look out for Bradley Byrom, the furry four legged son of Paul Byrom who makes a special guest appearance. The Theatreworx cast really do put on a great show, including a wonderful troupe of talented child and adult dancers. Super performances all round by a very talented cast.

There’s great fun for the kids from Buddy and Laurel and lots of familiar tunes to keep the audience toe tapping along. Will Hansel and Gretel get to the moon stone in time, or will the dastardly Donny get there first and ruin their plans?
