Bee Wise School tour is an educational nature trail suitable for all ages and abilities. We have Tour Options available all year round for groups, clubs and schools while our General Open days are available to book for families and individuals.
Biodiversity Talk & Walk
Embrace the magical world of Paddy and the Gorman family to see nature from nature’s perspective. Take a guided experience of a 5-acre nature trail discussing the habitats, flora and fauna and lifecycles of woodland creatures. Know what it is to live like a bee, or a bug, a hedgehog, a water beetle, or a butterfly. Hear intriguing insights like how the ant breathes through his skin and frogs drink through their skin! End with a tasting of diverse honeys such as spring, summer, and ivy honey.

The Story of Honey
Embrace the magical world of Paddy and the Gorman family to see nature from nature’s perspective, with a particular emphasis on honeybee pollinators. Be brought on a guided experience of a 5-acre nature trail through the eyes of the pollinators, with a particular emphasis on honeybees. Know what it is to live like a bee within nature’s elaborate eco-system and cycle of life. Hear intriguing insights like how bees do an in-hive waggle dance to inform fellow bees about where to find the best nectar. See up close the inside of a honeybee hive from empty frame to one full with honey. Feel the difference in weight. Then watch the liquid honey flow from a frame fresh from the hive in a glass extractor. End with a tasting of diverse honeys such as spring, summer, and ivy honey.

- View the honeybees through a large working observation hive.
- A demonstration of honey extraction.

Bee Wise Nature Trail is located in the heart of the Boyne Valley – 10 minutes drive from the heritage town of Trim, home to the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland built in1173, 10 minutes drive from the Hill of Tara, home of the High Kings of Ireland from 600 BC to 400 AD, 10 minutes from Bective Abbey founded in 1147 by the Cistercian.
The Bee Wise Nature Trail is located 3 minutes off the main Dublin/Trim Road (R154) and is approximately 40 minutes from Blanchardstown Town Centre.
