Little Red Riding Hood Puppet Show

Date :
30 Oct 2024

Ireland’s travelling marionette theatre, Moon & Sixpence, presents a cheeky version of Red Riding Hood, featuring the classic fairy-tale characters, joined by a talking dustbin, who encourages children to pick up litter. The production, lasting fifty minutes, is performed live, with string puppets, music and sound effects and draws plenty of audience participation, as much from adults as from children. The Moon & Sixpence version of this well-loved Charles Perrault story includes a moral in the tale, showing the importance of helping others.

The Moon & Sixpence Puppet Theatre is Ireland’s only travelling marionette (string puppet) theatre. This energetic and passionate team of artists, actors and craftspeople re-interprets traditional fairy tales with a modern twist, delivering a moral in each story for Irish children and families. Using 12″ marionettes, vibrant backdrops and lifelike props, the Dublin-based group have excited audiences since 1983. Their live performances and audience engagement have been the toast of schools, libraries and arts festivals from Donegal to Dingle and in venues as diverse as an Air Corps aircraft hanger and as Christmas entertainment at Áras on Uachtaráin.

“Highly commended as taste-forming theatre for tots” – The Irish Times

‘Extremely entertaining; one was inclined to forget that the characters were puppets.’
‘The characters were hilarious and the intricacy of the movement of the marionettes really captivated the audience.’

‘Good entertainment is timeless. The children were totally engaged by, and with, the show.’
‘Absolutely brilliant show brought my 7 year old son and Laughed all the way through!’

Suitable for children aged 4-10 years old.

Children should bring their favourite cushion to sit on.
