An Arigna Mining School tour experience is a unique educational experience for children. On arrival, children can explore the exhibition area and then watch a short DVD which introduces the mine. Are you and your family fans of a farm experience? Why not have a unique and fun birthday party at Newbridge House and Farm. Parties last for 2 hours and include a guided farm tour for approximately 1 hour followed by playtime and time for food. Price per child €12.50.

A minimum of 10 children is required for a party booking. Newbridge allow 1 adult
free with every 3 children and additional adults are charged at a reduced rate. Their parties are self-catered.

Chocolate Making Party

€22 per child. Leahy’s will start off the party by showing you a demo on how they do their chocolates at the farm. They will then do a little history on chocolate and its origins. Afterwards they set you up to make your very own lollipops and figurines, while you wait for the molds to set, you will go out on the farm for a little adventure, will then return to continue the chocolate party, you will be shown how to decorate and package your own chocolates.

Leahy’s supply lunch for the party. The party must have a minimum of 8 paying kids and all kids can bring home what they make. The party takes 3 hours.

Birthday Cake

Ice cream cake made with homemade ice cream from Daisy the cow. €35 for 10 kids. €45 for 15 kids. Vanilla cake decorated with chocolate buttons, smarties and chocolate sticks.

For the Best School tour experience

We are based in Dungourney, near Midleton in East Cork. We have been providing School Tour trips around our farm for the last 20 years. A Leahys Farm School tour is educational, adventurous and seriously fun for school groups.

We provide fully guided tours and we offer the children hands on work with feeding the animals as well as interesting little stories about old machines and contraptions around the museums.

We have indoor and outdoor play areas, Climbing Frame, Adventure Trail and a Crazy Golf course, we also have a large maze, pedal go-karts, a huge selection of animals and lots more, we also have a large coffee shop where the group can sit and eat their packed lunch or we can provide a hot lunch.
There is a souvenir gift shop, if required by the school.
Experience a 100 year old dwelling house on a working farm and see the farm machinery operated at this time.

Historical and Educational Aspects

  • See the tradesmen tools, blacksmiths forge, carpenters workshop etc
  • Horse drawn machinery and the first means of public transport used in Ireland
  • See the Old Irish Crannog.

Involvement and Enjoyment

Children will help to feed a huge variety of animals i.e. Hens, Ducks, Alpaca etc

  • Play with the rabbits and mice.
  • Touch and maybe even hold the snake.
  • Our large maze is a real challenge to all the kids and teachers can try to find their way around too.
  • New to the farm this year, we have quad and barrel train rides for the kids, this is serious fun for all ages.

 

The prices per child are €10.50 and one adult with every ten children would be free, we offer complimentary tea and scones to all free adult in the group and your bus driver is also looked after in the same way.
For Pre Schools the prices are the same but there is one adult in every five children free.
The food prices are €5.50 per child (optional).

Hear intriguing insights like how bees do an in-hive waggle dance to inform fellow bees about where to find the best nectar. See up close the inside of a honeybee hive from empty frame to one full with honey. Feel the difference in weight. Then watch the liquid honey flow from a frame fresh from the hive in a glass extractor. End with a tasting of diverse honeys such as spring, summer, and ivy honey.

Inclusions:

  • View the honeybees through a large working observation hive.
  • A demonstration of honey extraction.

Duration of Tour: 2 hours

Newbridge House and Farm is the perfect spot to host your primary school tour.  The traditional farm offers an up-close encounter with pigs, goats, ducks, horses, donkeys, chicks and much more, including an interactive Farm Discovery Trail for younger visitors.

Over 300 years old, the Georgian mansion is full of secrets and stories which the dedicated tour guides are waiting to share with your class.  Immerse your students in life back in Georgian times with an upstairs- downstairs tour, visit the Servants Quarters in the basement to see where all the hard work took place in the Housekeepers room, the Cooks kitchen and Servants Hall where they gathered for dinner. Our school tours of the house can be adapted to suit your class and curriculum.

A trip to Newbridge House , including entry to the Farm would require a minimum of 2 hours. Please allow extra time for lunches or time in the playground separately.
