School Tours Castlecomer Discovery Park Kilkenny

Create a memorable, action-packed school tour at Castlecomer Discovery Park. They have a great story to tell and are enthusiastic about sharing their world with you. The school tours are fresh, innovative, exciting and strive to make it fun for all. Schools can visit all year-round (except December). May-June are the busiest months and fully book out early so book your visit quickly!

Activities take place in the extensive 80-acre woodland, by the lakes and river and also indoors in the dedicated education rooms. All are guided by experienced staff with qualifications in teaching and learning, outdoor activity instruction and First Aid.

Castlecomer Discovery Park is flexible so choose from the wide range of activities to create a day best suited to your needs! They are an accredited Discovery Centre as part of the Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme. The SESE curriculum-based activities include:

Water Ecology
Woodland Invertebrate Collection
Nature Trail with Scavenger Hunt
Footprints in Coal Exhibition

Other activities (available September-April only) include a Maths Trail, a Geology and Rocks workshop and a DPSM Day (€10pp).

Why not include some adventure activities in your school tour? There are exciting new additions to the 2016 range of activities. All activities reflect the PE curriculum focus on “team challenges and adventure-activities”

There is also a small gift and sweet shop in the Visitor Centre with most items priced under €5.
