Halloween Festival Galway – It’s a spooky time at Slieve Aughty during the Halloween Festival, with ghosts and goblins galore, haunted houses, Halloween tricks and treats, scary stories, horses and ponies to pet and ride, arts and crafts and pumpkin carving.
A family event, enjoy the fresh air of autumn this Halloween with activities for all ages during the October Midterm break. This year promises to be full of tricks and treats, with events throughout the day including:
- Walk to the Enchanted Forest or ride a pony* to the gates for €10pp
- Guided treasure hunt at 1.30 and 4pm
- Guided Trail of Terror at 4pm
- Pumpkin carving
- Self-guided Nature Trails
- Arts & Crafts
- Facepainting
- Dressing up
- Pet the ponies and visit the pot-bellied pig and goat
- Outdoor Family Games
- Playground (up to 5 yrs.)
*Children must be at least 4 years old to ride a pony. Advanced booking is required.
You won’t want to miss the special guided activities scheduled during the day. The Witch’s Walk is a Halloween treasure hunt for young children (under the age of 8) while the Trail of Terror promises to scare the older ones silly. The Trail of Terror is a long walk (approximately 1 hour) and is not for young children.

For the entire family, go on a short walk to Slieve Aughty’s Enchanted Forest. Along the way, count how many ghosts, witches and other Halloween creatures you see and answer the Halloween riddles that help guide the way. Each child also receives a sweet bag on arrival.
Children can visit the Enchanted Forest aboard a quiet pony* – rides leave every half an hour and advanced booking is essential!
€20 per child (ages 2-12), adults and under 2 years of age free. Family discount for 3 or more children.
*Pony Rides are not included in the entry fee and are €10 per child. Pony rides are only available for children age 4-12. Pony rides cannot be booked separate from the festival and are an add on only.
Howl-O-Ween Festival 2024
The Halloween Festival promises all the fun and spooky delights.
All activities will be outdoors/outdoor covered.
The festival requires advance booking and is held on October 26th-31st
Guided activities are at 1.30 and 4pm daily and are included in the entry fee.
The festival does not cancel for weather.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.
