Jingle Cells as Christmas launches in Wicklow.
Pictured is 6 year old Alfie Doyle, the first child to visit Santa Claus in his Jingle Cell at Wicklow’s Historic Gaol at the weekend.
Five thousand people took to Wicklow Main Street to join Santa for the switching-on of the town’s Christmas lights.
Locals built a spectacular sleigh, pulled by the Elf Tractor for Santa’s journey through the town. The man in red was treated as a VIP and had a Garda escort throughout the procession.
Young Alfie won a local competition to join Santa on the stage to help him switch on the lights. He received a tremendous cheer from the thousands gathered and was then handed a Garda hat for a surprise trip in the Squad car back to Wicklow Gaol to be the first child to visit Santa in his Jingle Cell.
