The Big Dig at Dublinia

Dig for ancient Viking treasure at the Dublinia Big Dig

Put your hard hat on and get your hands dirty to experience life as an Archaeologist.

Come and join the Big Dig in the grounds of Dublinia from the 24th to the 28th of March, where visitors will get to take part in our very own simulated archaeology excavation.

It promises to be a fun packed family event where children will get a chance to discover how archaeologists excavate and hopefully find some artefacts and treasures of their own.

Dig Times are at 10.30am/11.30am/12.30pm/2.30pm and 3.30pm.  No booking is necessary.

About Ardgillan Castle Demense

Ardgillan Castle and Demesne is situated in North County Dublin on an elevated coastline between Balbriggan and Skerries, 32 kilometers north of Dublin City. The demesne is well signposted off the M1. The park consists of 194 acres of rolling open grassland, mixed woodland and gardens, overlooking the Irish Sea with views of Mourne Mountains to the north and Lambay to the south-east.

Visitors can enjoy outdoor walks through wooded areas with splendid views of Dublin bay. Other activities include: astrobounce target zone, obstacle course, bouncy football, bubble football, NERF Wars, kick speed radar, Combat Archery, basketball, unihoc, sports day style races etc. (some activities are age restricted).

Glendeer Pet Farm is holding its’ Annual Easter Egg Hunts on Easter Sat 15th, Sun 16th & Mon 17th April @ 3pm

Glendeer Pet Farm’s annual Egg Hunts provide great eggcitement & entertainment for kids of all ages. There is a separate egg hunt for children under four to make sure everyone gets a chance to collect some chocolate treats.

A visit to Glendeer is a fun, interactive experience for all the family. People can feed, pet & even hold some of the animals, which include pups, chicks, deer, pigs, llamas, alpaca, emu, goats, donkeys, sheep, jersey cow, two cheeky monkeys, Honey the raccoon & much more. Not to mention the new babies that are arriving every day, including kid goats, rabbits & lambs! After the children feed the animals they can play on the slide, swings, seesaws and very popular zipline, while adults enjoy fresh coffee/tea and home-made treats.

Be amazed at how friendly all of the animals are as the wander up around you looking for food. Each child will get a bag of food to feed the animals as you make your way around the six acre farm. Glendeer Pet Farm Puppies

While visiting the farm you can also stretch your legs along the unspoiled nature walk where you will have to keep your eyes open as you might just see some fairies along the way.

A visit to Glendeer Pet Farm won’t disappoint, there have been a lot of changes over the last few years including new amenities for kids of all ages from the maze and obstacle course for the older kids to the ball pool and soft play toddler area for the small ones, you will find it hard to get away. With these improvements the farm is now even more suitable for any weather conditions.

Easter at Festina Lente Bray Wicklow

We are planning two really brilliant Easter camps in Festina Lente during the Easter school holidays for children ages 5-11…  You can book each week separately or book the two weeks

Camp Week 1:  Monday 26th – Friday 30th March 2018 from 10am – 2pm

Monday: Off to the stable yard for a pony grooming session, then after the break, crack on with eggciting crafts! Make a brilliant bead sock bunny to brighten up your Easter. After lunch, search the gardens for lovely leaves and print a stunning spring leaf onto fabric.

Tuesday: After doing a pony riding lesson use air-dry clay to create beautiful Easter Egg ornaments, add patterns and designs and leave to dry. Make a fun and funky bunny mask before you hop off home.

Wednesday: Off to the stable yard for a pony grooming session, then up to the craft room to decorate your lovely clay eggs. Use craft material to make an Easter card for your family or friends.

Thursday: After your time in the stable yard doing a pony riding lesson, have some good clean fun and make some gorgeous handmade soap- choose your colour and an essential oil scent, then wrap in cellophane. Makes a beautiful Easter gift (hint, hint). Then dream on and make a delightful dream-catcher to hang by your bed to keep bad dreams at bay.

Friday: In with the ponies doing pony grooming then out to the garden! Bring the beauty of the Spring garden inside and make a fabulous table arrangement with twigs and daffodils. After lunch, search the gardens to discover the prize in our Easter treasure hunt!

Camp Week 2:  Tuesday 3rd – Friday 6th April 2018 from 10am – 2pm

Time to get arty!   Have fabulous fun with this cool craft camp…There are no pony activities during this week.

Tuesday: Dream on… make a beautiful dream-catcher to take home and hang by your bed to keep those bad dreams at bay. After the break, make a lovely air-dry clay hand, using your own hand as a template. Leave to dry. After lunch, search the gardens for lovely leaves and print a stunning spring leaf onto fabric.

Wednesday: Decorate your clay hand- use paint or decoupage to add some style to your clay hand holder. After the break its time to have some good clean fun and make some gorgeous handmade soap- choose your colour and an essential oil scent, then wrap in cellophane. Lunch is next -then a scavenger hunt in the garden.

Thursday: Take time for slime! Gather your ingredients, choose your colour and scent, and get goo-ing. After break –make and decorate a funky flower pot using decoupage and plant up with something nice! Lunchtime next, then- nature detectives are go! Take a gander round the garden and toddle up the trail to discover fauna & flora at Festina!

Friday: Feed the birds… make a fun bird feeder and some bird treats to encourage our feathered friends to visit the garden. Take a break, then create your own beautiful scented candle to take home. After lunch its time for treasure! Find the clues in the garden, work out puzzles and claim your prize in our brilliant treasure hunt.

The Easter Bunny will be with us all day to ensure each child receives chocolate, while Fireman Sam and one of the Minions will also be making appearances throughout the day and joining in the great fun. There will be Wacky Races such as sack races, bean bag, backward races and egg and spoon for prizes. Feed the lambs and visit the new spring arrivals. Easter will also see the return of the popular noisy Balloon Blaster, families can race to see who can burst their balloon first by pumping air frantically as fast as you can.

On Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday they will have free glitter tattoos and will be running a colouring competition over the bank holiday weekend.

What Easter celebration would be complete without an Easter egg hunt? Hop on over to the Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park for some fun family time during the Easter Holidays.
