Join Slieve Aughty any day during the Easter holidays and capture the joy of spring!

Pet our friendly sheep SallyPet our friendly sheep Sally

Spring is a lovely time at the centre as it seems to coincide with warmer weather, emerging flowers  and longer days that inspire everyone to shake out the dust of winter and get busy. There are plenty of animals around to visit, or you can go for a ride on one of the friendly horses or ponies (from €10 for lead reins for children ages 5 and up!). Take a short walk to the Enchanted Forest and see if you can spot any fairy folk. Step into The Three Towers Organic Kitchen and fill your senses with the scent of fresh, home-made cooking, or simply grab a hot coffee or tea and sit outside in the garden. The kids can make a Spring craft to bring home, and the whole family can try out a silly “spring” wardrobe and take some family photos.

Don’t forget to enter the Christmas Festival Contest and win a family pass to the best Santa event in Galway or make a contribution to the Centre for Environmental Living and Training as part of the Easter Monday Charity Ride.

Of course, the best activity is the Easter bunny hunt. Especially for the season, the centre turn their ordinary walking trail into a treasure trail with clues to help you find the elusive Easter bunny. Children can go on the hunt on horse back for €15 each. Fun and creative for all. Keep an eye on the upcoming events for more information about activities offered on specific days throughout the festival weeks, such as the Easter Sunday charity ride, organic gardening demonstrations, Easter pony camp and Easter cooking workshops.

Open 12 to 6 daily, entry is €5 per person and includes

Easter at Glendeer Pet Farm Roscommon

Easter Egg hunts on Easter Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th at 3pm each day.

The Easter egg hunts are always great eggcitment as kids go wild hunting and searching for all the chocolate treasures that can be found scattered around the farm. The hunts are on for the three days of the Eater Weekend, Easter Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Monday 28th at 3pm each day at 3pm.

Glendeer Pet Farm is conveniently located west of Athlone, take exit 13 off M6, & follow the signs for Drum (only 4kms off motorway). It is a fun, interactive experience for all the family. People can feed, pet & even hold some of the animals, which include deer, pot belly pigs, llamas, alpache, emu, goats, donkeys, sheep, jersey cow, two cheeky monkeys, tortoise, Honey the raccoon & much more. Not to mention the new babies that are arriving everyday, including kid goats, baby llama, rabbits, lambs & puppies. You might even get to hear Rio the parrot’s new words if he’s not too shy!

The Annual Egg Hunts provide great eggcitement & entertainment for kids of all ages. There is a separate egg hunt for children under four to make sure everyone gets a chance to collect some chocolate eggs.

While visiting the farm you can also stretch your legs along the unspoiled nature walk where old horse drawn farm machinery can be viewed. The children will get a bag of food each to feed the animals & after they can play on the slide, swings, seesaws and very popular glider swing, while adults enjoy fresh coffee/tea and home-made treats.

Be amazed at how friendly all of the animals are as the wander up around you looking for food. Each child will get a bag of food to feed the animals as you make your way around the six acre farm. Why not bring a picnic along to enjoy, but beware of the greedy donkey who can spot a picnic bag a mile away & will try to join you, if they don’t the hens will!

A visit to Glendeer Pet Farm won’t disappoint, there have been a lot of changes over the last year due to funding from the Leader Partnership Committee, so not only has the farm had a facelift but some NEW amenities have been added to entertain kids of all ages from the maze and obstacle course for the older kids to the NEW ball pool and toddler area for the small ones, you will find it hard to get away. With these new improvements the farm is now even more suitable for any weather conditions.
