Derrymore Springs Water Adventure Centre offer group birthday parties and school tour activities just outside Kinegad in Co Westmeath.

Birthday party groups can enjoy water adventure activities on this superb 20 acre man made lake. The lake has clear waters and it’s a wonderful outdoor location surrounded by trees and nature. Aqua Park – inflatable obstacles on the lake

The Aqua Park consists of inflatable slides, runways, jumping pillows and bouncers all connected together and floating in a large, clean, and refreshing lake. It is, by far, the most fun and inexpensive way to have fun with family and friends.

There’s a variety of different shaped obstacles, sizes and functions making the water park exciting and entertaining for everyone. With full-time lifeguards on site, it’s a fun and safe day out for the entire family.

Aqua Golf – a unique fun game of target practice shooting balls onto the lake

Kayaking – learn from the best with fun instructors on super calm waters

Rafting – build your own raft and float it on the water course

Surfdock Watersports Dublin organise fun activities for children’s birthday parties, school groups or any other occasion. The Grand Canal Dock is the ideal environment to safely practice water sports. No previous experience in any of the sports is needed and qualified instructors will make sure that your group is having a fun time on the water.

2 hour mixed activities

This session runs over 2 hours and include a mix of activities from our range of stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing and sailing (windsports upon request; activities might have to be adjusted according to weather conditions). Our qualified instructors will make this fun and safe for the children. We provide all the equipment for the session including wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets, so all the children need to bring is swimwear, a towel and an old pair of runners that they don’t mind getting wet.

The price per person is €22.50 (up to 24 participants, discounts for bigger groups). The minimum group size is 10 children.

2/3 hour mixed activities with wakeboarding (in partnership with Wakedock)

Add an extra adrenaline kick to your kids party and combine wakeboarding or ringo rides with stand up paddleboarding and/or kayaking.

The time on the water ranges from 2 to 3 hours depending on the group size and the choice between ringo rides and wakeboarding (as the wakeboarding takes longer for a bigger group with only one person on the water at a time).

The price per person is €30. The minimum group size is 10 children.

If your group is smaller than 10 children, we can offer you two options together with  Wakedock .

Ringo Rides:

15 minutes (up to 4 people) : €40
30 minutes (up to 8 people) : €80
Wetsuit rental is included in the price.

Wakeboard Cable Hire:

1 hour: €120 (up to 5 people) off peak: €80
2 hours: €220  (up to 10 people) off peak: €160
3 hours: €300 (up to 15 people) off peak: €240

Beauty and the Beast TLT Drogheda

This winter, a special tour will take to the roads of Ireland as Robert C Kelly, in association with the TLT presents the spectacular Christmas pantomime Beauty and the Beast at TLT Drogheda.

Robert C Kelly commented “After the huge success of our pantomimes in Limerick we thought it time to take the shows “on the road” and our full­scale pantomimes will now tour annually to various Irish venues. This year we are delighted to start with The TLT in  Drogheda, The National Opera House in Wexford and the INEC in Killarney.”    Beauty and the Beast will feature a star­studded cast including comedian Karl Spain, Red  Rock star Adam Weafer and from kids favourite, Twigin, RTÉjr star Clara Murray.

Limerick comedian Karl Spain familiar for his TV appearances including Karl Spain Wants a Woman, and Operation Transformation will play castle keeper, Bertie in the fabulous family  pantomime. Hailed as “achingly funny” (The Sunday Times) Karl is a regular performer at  Kilkenny Cat Laughs, the Galway Comedy Festival, the Vodafone Comedy Festival, the  Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Montreal Just for Laughs. He has performed in Australia, the  US and South Africa and has toured with Kevin Bridges and Ed Byrne.    

Ladies favourite and Red Rock star Adam Weafer will join the show as the loveable and  misunderstood Beast.

Clara Murray, who is well known to Irish audiences as a presenter of  Twigin, Singalong, Pop Goes the Weekend on RTÉjr and will join this year’s pantomime as  the feisty heroine, Belle.    Up and coming comedy duo and creators of the hilarious sell out show It’s Wine O’clock, currently taking Northern Ireland by storm, Teresa McBride and Rozlyn Sheridan will have  you laughing all the way home! They’ll be joining the show as the hilarious Breda and Bridie,  dim­witted servants to the Beast who are sure to get up to some hijinks. Red Rock alumni John Lovett is also on board, adding a sprinkling of fabulousness to the  show as he takes on the role of the glamourous Dame Lola. Michael Kiersey will play the  selfie obsessed Gaston, who professes his love for the beautiful Belle (although not as much as he loves himself!) Damien Douglas will bring the panto fun factor as his silly but loveable  sidekick Gascraic.     The show features a combination of the biggest and most glamorous sets and costumes in  Ireland and chart­topping hits of the past and present. Don’t miss this fabulous Christmas  treat for all the family.

‘OWLS’ Outdoor Survival Parties

OWLS Outdoor Survival Parties are based on a theme of Survival.  If your children are Bear Grylls or outdoor fans then they’ll love this unique birthday party experience!.

The party is started with a game of manhunt that helps children become familiar with the woodland.  From this initial chasing game, the group are then divided into two teams and given a challenge to build shelters using natural materials, this is done whilst playing another chasing game of capture.   

Following from the shelter building and depending on the group, the experience then moves on to a game called ‘capture the flag’. This determines which one of the teams takes ownership of the wood. The teams then move onto the fire lighting challenge.  Each team is shown how to build and light a small fire, the survival challenge is for each team to keep their fire going for five minutes without a leader who is there watching them but can’t say a word. From the fires, it’s the challenge of eating insects from the wild.  This is optional, we fry live mealworms and then see who is brave enough to eat them!. Marshmallows then follow.

The party is lead by a volunteer owl leader through the role of education, awareness and enjoyment.  Leaders are gardi vetted and follow strict guidelines when working with children.  Leaders are also first aid trained. 

Duration & Times:
Approximately 2 hours, available on Weekends, 11- 1pm or 2 – 4pm.
 
Locations:
This is an outdoor woodland service, with an option of two sites.Southside of Dublin – Fitzsimons Wood, near Dundrum orNorthside of Dublin – Turvey Park Nature Reserve, near the village of Donabate.

The leader provide the resources to run the event and the guardians are responsible should they wish too, to provide the refreshments. snacks, cakes etc.  From experience, most guardians bring along snacks, water and finish off the party with a cake.  Most parents bring along snacks and plenty of fluid.  The food eating all takes place during the last 20 mins when the groups are sitting round the campfire.

For the party, children should wear suitable clothing and footwear for playing outdoors.  A rain coat should also be brought, just in case of rain.  If it does rain considerably the activities will be tailored to suit the condition. Temporary covers are also put up in place.  To date, we have not had to cancel a party due to bad weather.

Up to 60 children can be catered for at the Northside site and 40 children on at the Southside site.

What does it cost?

  • For the first 15 children €180
  • For numbers between 16 – 19, it’s €5 per child.
  • Numbers 20 – 29 €250
  • For 30 – 40 children €350

A leader runs the party on a voluntary effort and does not get paid, the fee covers the annual €3,700 insurance premium and the rest goes towards providing opportunities for children who may not be able to access outdoor services on their own.

Who are OWLS?
OWLS is a Children’s Nature Community Service and stands for Outdoor, Wildlife, Learning and Survival.   The charity is run by two paid staff and a team of volunteers with a focus on providing outdoor opportunities for children of primary age and families to enjoy the outdoors through fun, education, access and enjoyment.   Our services include school visits, public run park events, working with groups with special needs, Ty’s practical projects, community groups, activity camps and opportunities for children who wouldn’t get a chance to enjoy the outdoors on their own.   This birthday party service helps us to continue and create opportunities for others.
